Before I re-cap our trip to Cape Cod with my parents, I feel I should address a few questions.
We did survive the move and now are mostly settled and enjoying our new place. :) We still need to hang things on the walls (which we almost hate to do with all the fresh paint!) but once that is all done we will take some pictures and put them up here fore sure. We had a busy week and weekend, unpacking and then entertaining some friends Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but it was great to show some of our friends the new place.
To answer some questions from the previous post...Daniel will actually be having very little to do with the horses. The owners of the home are very into racing horses. So the only horses that are ever on this property of theirs are baby colts before they go to "race-horse-school". Because these are potential kentucky derby contestants, there are professionals who come in to take care of them. The extent of Daniel's interaction with them would maybe be doing the morning feedings in the winter. I am excited to see some baby horsies though! Also, Daniel will definitely have a busy year next year, but his school load is significantly reduced to what it has been in the past. Daniel was taking a ton of classes trying to finish 2 degrees in the time it takes most to get one. He will be done with the MDiv at the end of the summer, and the ThM is only 8 classes, which Daniel will spread out over this summer and next year. Bare in mind that Daniel was taking 6-7 classes each semester, so the load dropped quite a bit. While he does have one new job starting in September, it is only 5 hours/week. He will begin applying to PhD programs as well as taking the GREs in the fall, so I guess it will be quite busy, but I suppose we are both used to that right now.
ANYWAY, on to Cape Cod! When my parents were here for Daniel's graduation, they extended their visit with a little jaunt down south to the cape. It was a lovely 3 days, and we were able to hit a lot of our favorite things from our previous 2 trips, as well as check out some new things. :)
I should also mention that we stopped for a nice mother's day brunch in Boston on our way down. Happy mother's day momsy, I love you ! (Yes, I am aware father's day is this weekend, but these pictures are from mother's day! Love you too daddio!)
Nauset Light! They were offering free tours of this lighthouse, so we thought it would be fun to check out.
Checking out the view.
View of Nauset Beach.
Nauset Light is all over everything! Eastham signs, cape cod potato chip bags, ...
Even the special cape cod and islands license plates! :) Daniel and I would like to point out that we have also visited the cliffs featured on the bottom right of the license plates; they are on Martha's vineyard.
Heading down to the beach...
Yummy dinner at Baxter's Boathouse! We feasted on a fisherman's platter, crab roll, lobster roll, and clam chowder.
The next morning we spent relaxing, playing a bit of tennis, and swimming in the indoor pool.
Daniel in his women's shorts. :)
That evening we ate on early dinner at this all you can eat, Brazilian barbecue buffet place. It was magnificent, tons of amazing food served buffet style, then they also had servers walking around slicing beef off of skewers for you. And the desserts were so wonderful we each had to try one. :) Afterwards we played a round of mini golf at Pirate's Cove!
Daniel protecting his ball. :)
For the first time ever, I won mini golf when the 4 of us played. I just had an awesome night, even one hole-in-one! Normally my dad and Daniel and duking it out for the win, so I was excited to be the champ. :)
The next morning we checked out of the condo and made a few final stops.
First to the cape cod potato chip factory...
Then to the cape cod brewery (just in time for a beer tasting I somehow got roped into)...
Next to a JKF something or other (memorial I think?)...
Which happened to be right near a Korean War memorial...
And then to try and see the Kennedy Compound!
We had a lovely time down at the cape with my parents, thanks again for everything, and glad you were finally able to visit a new timeshare condo! :)
Well, one post down, many to go...next up, Memorial Day weekend with the Gibbs' and the Flynn's (and with all their pictures! should be a long post...), painting, then the new apartment before and after pictures!
