A draw to Buffalo, in addition to the Bill's, and Buffalo wings; no joke they originated here, is the proximity to Niagara falls. We heard that the view was much better from the Canadian side, so we crossed the border and headed into the outskirts of Toronto. The town was very touristy, obviously so, but still a WWF retail store? Brother Please!
We drove to the Falls and parked for $17.50 American, it was $18.00 Canadian; something is wrong with that picture. We took a lot of pictures, like all the rest of the tourists, including several Hasidic Jews, but the mist from the falls has the same tendency as rain, so you get drenched. Jenny offered to take a picture for a Hasidic (orthodox) Jewish family, that hesitantly agreed. We got the impression that they let us take their picture out of politeness to us, and the father did not talk to Jenny. It was a very interesting encounter, culturally awkward but it made me think quite a bit about their culture, and how to many more traditional views, we as gentiles are still goyim. Anyway it was fascinating for us. Here are some pictures of the falls....
At Niagara Falls there are two separate falls. The main one is shaped like a horseshoe, and is the more impressive one. The three pictures above show that, the second is smaller but equally as picturesque because there is less mist/rain to ruin the picture.
After the falls we drove the rest of the day through rural upstate New York, and entered Massachusetts in the evening. We arrived in Boston around 10:45 pm, and I screwed up a sweet photo opp. for the "End of I-90" sign, so we'll provide that later. We got to the seminary before midnight, thus ending our 3100 mile trip, thankful that we made it through without any car trouble or speeding tickets, and only a few close calls. :) We move into our two-bedroom on campus apartment this Saturday and are exited to begin this new stage of life.
